Tub and Shower Floors

New floors installed in existing tubs & showers

There have been a lot of cases in years gone by where the gelcoat will separate from the fiberglass backing on both bathtubs and shower floors and the result is a spongey feel under your feet and then the cracks will appear. Water damage usually occurs at this point.

Instead of ripping the unit out and making a huge mess, Finishing Touches can install a new bottom inlay over the existing bottom.

These are actual fiberglass panels cut to the curved edges, better known as the radius and extend to the drain. The new bottom is textured and the radius is sprayed using gelcoat. When the job is completed in one day, you will never deal with the issue again. The inlays are installed over gelcoat, acrylic, and plastic composite tubs often found in modular and mobile homes.

This is a whirlpool with cracks in the bottom.  The new bottom panel is cut and ready to install.

This plastic shower pan had cracks in it and the customer did not want to rip the ceramic tile out to replace the bottom

The only other option is to have holes drilled in the bottom and foam shot under it. In the event the repair is a warranty issue on a new tub, the manufactures do not authorize this type of repair. This is an inferior repair from a structural and ascetic standpoint. It is not money well spent to try and save a bottom. It is hard to pay a little and get a lot. Always get specific answers when questioning this procedure because I have heard from unhappy customers that they were told “yes, it will be a new bottom” when in fact, it is not.
